*Energy Efficient

      *Higher Reflectivity

        *Cooler Roof Surface

       *Extended Roof Life

Step 1: Vacuum gravel from roof, if a balasted EPDM system (non-balasted EPDM systems do not have gravel).

EPDM Coating System:  A quality, economical solution for your aged EPDM roof and existing re-roofing needs.

Step 2: Power wash and clean roof with WAC II to free roof from all contaminants that could affect the bond of the tack coat to the existing EPDM membrane. Who can afford to take chances?

Many times when a roof membrane starts to fail, there are only two options:  do nothing and live with the leaks or tear the old roof off and replace it.  The EPDM recoat system gives you another option.  Now you can coat the existing membrane and enjoy the benefits of reduced energy bills, a longer lasting roof, and the ability to apply the new membrane without major disruptions to your business.   All at a less expensive price than reroofing!   In addition, this system is completely sustainable-- meaning you can continue to recoat the acrylic coating, after the ten year warranty has expired, and extend it for another ten years!

Step 3: Apply Conklin Tack Coat primer.

Step 3:  Apply  primer.

Energy Efficient

The   EPDM Coating System provides a reflective coating to coat over an existing EPDM roof membrane.  The light colored coating reflects the majority of the sun’s energy away from the roof surface, keeping the roof membrane and the workspace under the roof cooler.  Ultimately, a cooler workspace requires less energy to keep cool.  The average EPDM roof reflects five to six percent of the solar energy away from the surface, while the coating reflects 84 percent of the sun’s energy away from the roof’s surface.  It is not unusual for a cool roof to lower roof top temperatures by 30 to 50 degrees!

Step 4: Apply Conklin's Rapid Roof III Base Coat over the Tack Coat and imbed Spunflex fabric over any seams.

Step 4: Apply  Base Coat over the primer and imbed  fabric over any seams.

A Great Finish--Extending Your Roof’s Life

EPDM roof membranes have long suffered from premature degradation due to exposure to the elements.  The dark surface absorbs large amounts of heat energy from the sun, causing the membrane to expand and contract to extreme levels.  Over time this movement causes the membrane to shrink, and increases the possibility for the seams to leak. The coating system protects the harmful rays away from the surface and effectively secures the seams of the membrane for a water-tight seal.  No longer exposed to the majority of the sun’s rays, the EPDM membrane will have a much longer life span.  Recoats of the coatings can be applied to further increase the life of the roof.

Step 5: Apply Conklin’s Rapid Roof III Top Coat over the Base Coat.  Step 5: Apply Conklin’s Rapid Roof III Top Coat over the Base Coat.

Step 5:  Apply   Top Coat over the Base Coat.
